WEEK 7: SHOPPING SABBATICAL JOURNEY SO FAR

I would like to start this Blog by announcing I haven’t shopped this week!

Yes you heard it right! I did not shop for any clothes this week.

But here is something serious and unexpected coming from me because talking about my feelings about clothes in general, I have started feeling that I don’t really have any clothes to wear again. Why is that?

It really goes back to the quality of garment. And I strongly feel the way garments’ life span has decreased is a major concern for us. My clothes have started showing a different look from what they were before.

Is it because I wash them often?

I really don’t know about the core impulse of feeling this way but I have a solution!

I think investing in staples would be the best thing I could do in today’s world.

Prints can get old….

Graphics can get old…

Fancy outfits can get old!

But staples always give a youtful and fresh look.

This summer while I enter into the season, I will make sure I am buying good quality staples and instead of spending on a lot of clothes I can buy some good accessories to enhance my look!

This can truly be an effective way we together can stop buying extra clothes which we might not actually wear that often.

As of now due to weather, til today its pretty cold in Illinois. I can’t shop for my summer clothes yet and also I am on the shopping sabbatical break so I have started thinking what clothes I can buy later to reduce buying more clothes every year and that also have longer life and decrease my carbon footprint.

Moreover, these days I have been deciding on discarding or recycling my clothes responsibly and ethically too. For this, I done my research on various thrift stores and where I can donate my clothes. But I don’t wish to donate clothes that are in really bad quality. So, I want to educate myself more on reponsible discarding procedures.

Let me know if you have some suggestions regarding responsible discarding or recycling of my clothes.

I will see you in the next one!

Until then keep embracing and loving slow fashion! ๐Ÿ™‚
