I was not always like this, when I say I don’t buy that often.
Shopping every week, purchasing for wearing just once, and never looking back was a part of my habit.
What changed me?
Honestly, my budget, yes I admit it started due to my budget.
But now, I see it as something very important to me and I can proudly say I have embraced slow fashion for a while now.
Fast fashion isn’t free.
Someone, somewhere, is paying.”

The last time I purchased a fashion article was when I was in Vancouver with my cousins spending New Year vacations.
Interestingly, It was the day just before the coldest week of January 2024 in North America.
We went to a store outlets’ mart where I saw a beautiful pink-pastel “Under Armour backpack” which was just perfect for carrying my laptop, water bottle and other essentials to college.

I bought this bag for $20, originally priced at $40 . It was totally worth it and perfect to carry my things to college.
In addition, I also bought perfumes for my best friend and her boyfriend from a store costing me around $70. Not to mention that $200 that I spent just before leaving for the vacation on different fashion articles, to surprise my cousins with gifts.
Recently, I have been pretty impressed with my shopping habits.

My strategies to not do impulsive buying includes, checking the requirement for the item, space in the closet, quality of the fabric, and at last, price of the item. This ensures I am keeping requirements as my top-notch priority.
This also helps me to not only avoid clutter in my closet but also, save money, environment, and keep my shopping habits in-check.
Coming back to my pink backpack, I use this bag everyday and for the intention that I had exactly while buying it.
The typical person saw over 5,000 ads yesterday telling them to buy something new. Here’s one with the opposite message: Buy less.” – Joshua Becker
However, I have had many previous purchases of bags that I rarely use and I strongly feel the reason behind this, is not putting enough thought while shopping.
It is immensely crucial that we take a long time in making decisions especially for fashion articles when they are available so easily in the market.
If we all come together and buy smartly with intention, we can make a huge diffference in our lives for us and for our environment.
