WEEK 6: SPRINGY WINGY FUN FASHION WEEK

Any surprises for this year yet?

Yes, I can say it was a big fun surprise when my cousin knocked on my door all the way from Toronto to take me on a surprise vacation to Texas.

Before leaving we planned one day to Urbana Champaign where we went on an adventure in a spooky escape room with my two closest friends.

All in all this week was full of laughter, memories and love!

Being on my shopping sabbatical I will consider myself as successful in controlling the urge to shop anything for myself excluding one Lululemon waist bag which my cousin gifted me because we were travelling and it was needed.

Near O’hare Airport we also went to an apparel outlet known as “Fashion Outlets of Chicago.”

The best thing about going to shop there with my cousin was I learnt a lot of things about ongoing trends and especially got substantial knowledge about the current situation of usage of furs in fashion articles that are currently part of my research project.

Maximilian Store on the second floor had a whole collection of articles made of fur and exotic skins. The seller there was extremely enthusiastic about answering all the questions I had about the usage of furs in fashion articles.

The use of mink, racoon, rabbit and fox fur to make coats’ collars and vests was common and the prices of those pieces were astonishingly high.

As I am writing this blog with all my assignments pending I now have no regret in going for this vacation as it gave me a new perspective to see my projects through a different lens and add my fresh knowledge and inspiration to upcoming academic works.

I am super excited to go back to ISU and start my projects afresh, better and amazing!

Before leaving for next week I will put a full stop to this blog by sharing a fun picture of me from today climbing on Go Ape’s coolest zip lines.

Until then keep loving slow and sustainable fashion

I will see you in the next one ♡

  3. I love going to the Fashion Outlets of Chicago! It’s close to my house so I’m there pretty often when I’m tired of the store around my house. But that’s super exciting that you got to go somewhere fun for spring break! Also, good job on your sabbatical so far!

  4. I really like how you were able to take advantage of learning new things even when you were out. I would actually like to learn more about animal fur in fashion. I think it’s sad because I feel like most of the animals die, but until I am more educated on it, I can’t really state a real opinion. Keep up the good work and ambition!

  5. The amount of courage it takes to do that so high up in the air…I am genuinely astounded. Fur is sooooooo expensive which is why wearing some of the nicer furs in the past were such an egregious display of wealth and also served a function as it used to be colder in Europe due to a volcanic eruption and it was more difficult to heat homes compared to modern times. I can’t wait to see what your research turns up!
