WEEK 8: MY OTHER BUYING HABITS AND CURRENT PERSONAL STYLE!

With almost a month spent on official embarkment of Shopping Sabbatical!

I will begin with mentioning about how I have learnt a lot of things about my ‘buying behavior.’

Last year, I went on a huge shopping spree to buy home decor items right before shifting to my new apartment.

This included new crockery, a vacuum cleaner, a fire stick, a projector to enjoy movies and other decorative stuff like peelable wallpapers for my room and kitchen.

I have had this habit for a while.

This is my love language for myself.

‘Buying stuff that would give my apartment a beautiful look makes me happy.’

.

.

.

Nevertheless, since August, I have not buy stuff for home decor.

For me, home decor is more than buying from outside. It is a creative journey and escape activity for me to find peace.

So I create stuff more than buying, now that I have all essentials already I have again started to create and innovate with what I already have with me.

This method could apply to clothes as well. As a fashion student, I am familiar with various techniques for upcycling fashion. This time, I am considering giving my old outfits a fresh look by adding my own innovative touch.

.

.

.

Recently, my research for a major graduate project has focused on investigating the ways clothing is used for decoration and its influence on people’s lives. The goal is to understand how clothing can impact self-esteem. To explore this, I have been analyzing how my own clothing choices affect my daily life.

.

.

.

As I observe my clothes I feel they are a blend of my desired identity, societal acceptance, current trends, personal style and my socio-cultural background together with, religion and geographical area.

In conclusion, my personal fashion style is made up of disparate social conditions.

With this, the impact of economic conditions should also not be ignored.

Ending with a closing view, I would like to mention that currently my fashion defines what I am and what I would like the society to perceive me as.

I feel many people do the same without realising it.

Hence, more awareness on personal style and fashion is needed by people to consciously pick clothes for success.

.

.

.

Until then keep loving slow and sustainable fashion

I will see you in the next one ♡

  2. I love your home decor philosophy! I hope that your research project goes smoothly and that it is able to accomplish what you set out to do. I also appreciate the scattered post it notes on your laptop as that is such a mood.
